My journey at Lingokids

There were three main challenges I faced as a producer in the company:

Challenge 1

Maintain a consistent publication cadence to gather user feedback on which mechanics work best. Publish a prototype every two weeks in Billy’s Lab, the app’s prototype section.

What I did to solve it:

  • Redesigned and led the prototyping pipeline to get the most out of AI tools for coding and asset creation, improving the speed and quality of each prototype.
  • Coordinated with art members of other departments to gather feedback, improving asset quality with each prototype.

Results:

  • Produced 30+ prototypes, each published to gather engagement and completion metrics for future games.
  • Promoted 10+ prototypes into actual games for the app.

Challenge 2

Organize and create a system for internal documentation and task tracking, which were previously spread across different tools.

What I did to solve it:

  • Built a documentation and tracking system from scratch in Notion.
  • Created interconnected databases for documentation, roadmaps, task boards, and progress trackers, making the system usable for internal and external partners.
  • Provided documentation and assistance for producers so they could adapt the system to their needs.

Results:

  • The Notion system became Lingokids Studios' Single Source of Truth.
  • Improved communication between teams and prevented decisions from getting lost in Slack threads or long meetings by clarifying responsibilities.

Challenge 3

Take over a mid-producer's responsibilities during a team transition while starting a localization project, increasing the team’s capacity during the change.

What I did to solve it:

  • Took over production for the development of four games simultaneously.
  • Kept track of the workload of each team member to avoid burnout and ensure no part of the work was left undone, helping the team stay balanced during the transition.
  • Coordinated the new localization team and helped create a Notion system to document the process.
  • Facilitated the transition when a senior producer arrived to take over production of the games.
  • Facilitated the transition when a senior localization producer arrived with a ready-to-use system, enabling the localization team to continue without disruption.

Results:

  • The team delivered all four games on time.
  • The transition was smooth when the new producers arrived, allowing the team to continue work without disruption.
  • The localization team still uses the system to track project progress, confirming its continued value.
