What I did in Blast Course
Blast Course was our final degree project: We created an idea from scratch, prototyped it, developed it over the last year and a half of the degree, and published it on Steam.
These were the most important things I did during development to help ensure, with my teammates, that the game was published at a quality we were proud of:
- Managed the complete production cycle from prototyping to publishing using Jira to keep sprints and task assignments organized, ensuring the project stayed on track.
- Raised my concern about our limited time and the mismatch between our scope and the schedule in a team conversation. Originally, we were aiming to develop 6 different levels. Still, with the game needing to be published at the end of the degree, I proposed eliminating the last two levels we had designed, which were the biggest ones, to focus on the quality of the first 4 levels and the mechanics. The team agreed, and that allowed us to deliver the game on time with a quality we were proud of.
- Coordinated with external collaborators on music and voice acting, preparing references and documentation so they could understand the project’s needs and do their work to the best of their capacity. Rodrigo Arribas, a Spanish composer, created the music, and Siena Badilla, an amateur voice actor from the United States, handled the voice acting.
- Collaborated on design and narrative tasks, helping design mechanics, levels, and the game's narrative script, supporting the game's development.
- Represented the team at game fairs, managed all inscription documentation, and took part in interviews and press presentations to present the project publicly and support its visibility.
Final Results
Thanks to the amazing team, we had over 30,000 users add the game to their libraries, received nominations such as Best University Game at Bilbao’s International Game Festival 2024, and earned coverage in media such as Conexión Play Show Episode 52 and HobbyConsolas.
